Asking and Giving Directions (Conversations)

A woman is new in town and asking for directions.

belajar bahasa inggris menanyakan arah

  • Woman: Excuse me. Can you tell me how to get to the nearest bookstore? (Permisi. Bisakah Anda memberitahu saya menuju toko buku terdekat?)
  • Man 1: I'm sorry, I don't know. I'm from out of town. (Saya minta maaf, saya tidak tahu. Saya dari luar kota.)

One minute later (satu menit kemudian)

  • Woman: Excuse me. Do you know where the nearest bookstore is? (Permisi. Apakah Anda tahu dimana toko buku terdekat?)
  • Man 2: Yes. It's not far from here. Walk straight ahead until you get to Main Street. Then turn left and walk one block to Avenue Street. Then.. (Ya. Tempatnya tidak jauh dari sini. Jalan kaki lurus saja sampai Anda sampai di Main Street. Lalu...)

  • Woman: Sorry to interrupt you. How many blocks is that? (Maaf menginterupsi Anda. Berapa blok yang harus saya lewati itu?)
  • Man 2: It's about three or four blocks. And when you get to Avenue Street, turn right and just walk down the street until you see it. (Sekitar tiga atau empat blok. Dan kalau Anda sudah sampai di Avenue Street, belok kanan dan susuri saja jalan itu sampai Anda melihatnya.)
  • Woman: Which side of the street is it on? (Di sisi jalan mana tempatnya berada?)
  • Man 2: The bookstore will be on your right side, next to the church. You won't miss it. It has a big sign on top of its building: "Metro Bookstore".  (Toko bukunya ada di sebelah kanan Anda, di sebelah gereja. Anda tidak akan melewatkannya. Tempatnya memiliki papan nama besar di atas gedungnya: "Metro Bookstore".)
  • Woman: Is there any bus going there? (Apakah ada bis yang pergi kesana?)
  • Man 2: I don't think so. If you need to get there fast, I suggest you to take a taxi. (Saya rasa tidak ada. Jika Anda ingin pergi kesana segera, saya sarankan naik taxi saja.)
  • Woman: Hmm.. On second thought, I think I'll just walk there. By the way, thank you very much for the help. (Hmm.. Dipikir-pikir lagi, saya jalan sajalah kesana. Ngomong-ngomong, terimakasih banyak atas bantuannya.)
  • Man 2: You're welcome. (Terimakasih kembali.)
