  • Shopkeeper : Good morning Ma’am. How may I help you? (Selamat pagi. Ada yang bisa saya bantu?)
  • Customer : I’m looking for English Grammar books. (Saya mencari buku grammar             bahasa Inggris.)
  • Shopkeeper : I see. Well, we have lots of English Grammar books in language section. Which one do you want? (Begitu ya. Well, kami punya banyak buku grammar bahasa Inggris di bagian bahasa. Yang mana yang Anda mau?)
  • Customer : Do you have an intermediate Grammar book? (Apa Anda punya buku             grammar untuk tingkat menengah?)
  • Shopkeeper : Yes, I think we have some. Is there any specific author you want? (Ya, saya kira kami punya beberapa. Apa ada penulis khusus yang Anda mau?)

  • Passenger: Good morning. I’d like to buy a ticket to London for tomorrow, please. Could you tell me which train I should take? (Selamat pagi, saya ingin beli tiket ke London. Bisakah Anda kasih tau saya kereta mana yang harus saya naiki?)
  • Booking-clerk: Are you planning to leave in the morning or in the evening? (Anda berencana berangkat pagi atau malam hari?)
  • Passenger: In the morning. (Pagi hari.)
  • Booking-clerk: There is 8.10 a.m. train you can take. (Ada kereta jam 8.10 pagi yang bisa Anda naiki.
  • Passenger: Do I have to change anywhere? (Apa saya nanti harus pindah kereta di suatu tempat?)

Zahra, a young business woman,  is looking for some shoes at the shoe shop.

  • Shopkeeper: Good afternoon, miss. Can I help you? (Selamat siang, nona. Bisa saya bantu?)
  • Zahra: Yes, I’m looking for some shoes. (Ya, saya sedang mencari sepatu.)
  • Shopkeeper: What kind of shoes, miss? (Sepatu yang seperti apa, nona?)
  • Zahra: Some fancy shoes. (Sepatu yang mewah.)
  • Shopkeeper: Alright. We have some newest collection here. Do you have any specific color or style? (Baik. Kami punya beberapa koleksi terbaru di sini. Apakah Anda punya warna atau model spesifik?)
  • Zahra: Well, there will be a party that I’d like to join next week, and I’m planning to wear my black dress. (Well, nanti akan ada pesta yang saya hadiri, dan saya berencana memakai gaun hitam saya.)
  • Shopkeeper: So, black fancy shoes will match your dress I guess. (Kalau begitu, sepatu mewah warna hitam akan cocok dengan gaun Anda, saya rasa.)
  • Zahra: Exactly. (Tepat sekali.)

Emily lives in New York, and she’s now at the airport to pick up her best friend, Emma, who is visiting from French.

  • Emma: Emily, I’m so happy to see you again! (Emily, aku sangat bahagia sekali bisa ketemu kamu lagi!)
  • Emily: Me, too Emma. Long time no see! (Aku juga Emma. Sudah lama ndak ketemu!)
  • Emma: Let’s go get some food first. My car isn’t far from here. (Ayo kita cari makan dulu. Mobilku tidak jauh dari sini.)
  • Emily: Wait, Emma. I don’t have any US dollars. I’d like to change some money. I need to buy some things here. Do you know where the nearest money changer is? (Tunggu, Emma. Aku ndak punya uang US dollar. Aku mau beli beberapa barang di sini. Apa kamu tahu dimana tempat penukar uang terdekat?)
  • Emma: Actually, there are some places in this airport. But I wouldn’t recommend them. The exchange rate is high and so are the fees. It’s better to go to banks. Come on, I’ll take you to a bank. (Sebenarnya ada beberapa tempat di dalam airport ini. Tapi aku ndak merekomendasikannya. Kursnya tinggi dan ada biayanya juga. Lebih baik ke bank. Ayo, aku antar kamu ke bank.)
